Should we screen for intracranial aneurysms (IAs) in systemic hypertension at the time of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background IAs are detected in 2.3% of adults. Systemic hypertension is a risk factor. Screening for IA in certain highrisk groups, such as patients with coarctation of the aorta, has been discussed in international guidelines. Patients with coarctation often have concomitant systemic hypertension. Moreover, the prevalence of hypertension in patients with coarctation and IA is significantly higher than those without IA. It is uncertain whether hypertension alone represents a sufficient risk factor to prompt screening for IAs.

DNA Damages on Blood Cells After Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: Along with the increased use of cardiac imaging at clinics there is increased attention to the potential risks related to the methods used like magnetic resonance (MR) and it cannot be ruled out that MR can alter DNA structure. The aim of this review is to assess the impact of routine cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) scanning on DNA damages in human T lymphocytes....
متن کاملThe Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...

The stochastic active contour scheme (STACS) is a well-known and frequently-used approach for segmentation of the endocardium boundary in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images. However, it suffers significant difficulties with image inhomogeneity due to using a region-based term based on the global Gaussian probability density functions of the innerouter regions of the active ...
متن کاملRole of Transthoracic Echocardiography in the Evaluation of Patients with Retinal Vein Occlusion
Introduction: Retinal vein occlusion is a common vascular disorder disrupting vision. Two basic types of RVO are branch retinal vein occlusion and central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). Retinal vein occlusion is a multifactor process including systemic illness and local retinal factors.RVO may be associated with atherosclerotic risk factors. We analyzed the role of 2 dimensional transthor...
متن کاملExtra-cardiac findings in cardiovascular magnetic resonance: what the imaging cardiologist needs to know
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is an established non-invasive technique to comprehensively assess cardiovascular structure and function in a variety of acquired and inherited cardiac conditions. A significant amount of the neck, thorax and upper abdomen are imaged at the time of routine clinical CMR, particularly in the initial multi-slice axial and coronal images. The discovery of uns...
